It's become sort of a joke, really. I mean, The O'Jays? The Dave Clark Five? What possible influence on music and/or culture did these people have?
Jeff, on the other hand, helped shape the sound of pop music in the 70's and 80's with ELO, had several HUGE hit's that he penned himself, and produced some smashes like George Harrison, Tom Petty, Dave Edmunds, Roy Orbison....etc. Let's not forget The Beatles' "Free As A Bird" and "Real Love" in the 90's.
Jeff has been a major contributor to the history of rock and roll and it's shameful that he's not been "offically" recognized in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. I have no idea if he's ever been nominated, but he should be.
