Escaping from the CONFUSION I took the LAST TRAIN TO LONDON , where I sat down in one of the few sits that were free. Suddenly a man came in a rush and sat down near me. He was not a shy person, and we began to talk. He told me that his name was HORACE WIMP and that he was making a little journey to London. As he was looking upset and miserable, I asked him the reason. He began to complain: "When will this MIDNIGHT BLUE be over? Is it so difficult to SHINE A LITTLE LOVE in my life? I'm WISHING..."
I think Jeff Lynne was in Love when he put this together, certainly not with ELO as a major touring attraction though ,This was the start of things to come with the string section being pensioned off and down to a four piece. To be fair as comercial pop albums go (and this is Pure Pop) it is amongst the best of its kind from the period. but overall compared to the sound Lynne had captured from Face the Music through Out of the Blue, this was a bit of a let down.
I have heard some people put this one down because it sounds too disco! So what! Many of these songs were some of Jeff's best work. It doesn't get much better than Midnight Blue and Need Her Love. This is one of my favorite albums. I won my wife over to ELO with these songs many moons ago!
tremendous tunes on this 1 for sure , jeff lynne must have made yet another fortune , from the 2 songs that were covered off this album and got the no 1 spot in the charts coool ehh, the mans a true genius
ESTE ALBUM LO ES TODO.... PALABRAS???? SÒ PUEDO RESUMIRLO EN UNA SOLA: PERFECTO!!!!
ES GENIAL, UNA OBRA MAESTRA, Y TADAS LAS CANCIONES MERECEN SER GENIALES, CLARO LA FAVORITA ES "LAST TRAIN TO LONDON".
OTRO ALBUM ESENCIAL, AUN PARA EL QUE NO ES ELOMANIATICO.
Not what I expected after "Out of the Blue", but I think this album contains something for everyone. You can tell Jeff was stretching the musical muscle on this one.

Hits
An unbelivable album with lots of good songs on it. Nobody expected this type of album to come out. And it also has some brilliant hits on it.
DISCO VERY NOT!
