Concert Tour?

Average: 4.8 (45 votes)

Any chance that ELO will ever be doing any more concert tours in the U.S.A.?
Even if it were to be smaller venues?
If "Rush" from Canada can sucessfully tour, why can't ELO?
How do we get something started?
Thank you very much for your time.

I will be more than happy to see ELO live with Voca People anywhere!

"Most" of the original lineup? Besides Kelly Groucutt and Mik Kaminski, who else is there? I'm not counting Louis Clark as he wasn't really part of the lineup even though he helped with arrangements in the studio.

Best bit was sharing the experience with my 14 year old son, who lists ELO ashis fave band too!

What about a UK tour? Are ELO still going? If so whos in the line up? Excuse my lack of knowledge about the band but I've just started to listen to them again and I'm keen to know what's happening and whos doing what.

Lucky you got to see them live. I would have been just old enough for the 81 show, but I don't think it came close enough to me. I lived in a major city between to major cities. Usually, mine was skipped by most acts.

re: Substar...How about a tour to promote an album? It works for me!

Hell yeah! I'll take that any day.

I'm so glad I got to see them when I did ('81) even though I was a little disappointed that it wasn't the classic lineup (strings instead of synths). Those of you who saw them before that tour were very fortunate.

Hi Zerra

I guess we'll have to start taking up a collection now. lol

Chris

As much as I would love to see ELO perform live again, I'd MUCH rather have a new album.

hello chriss!

Hello Zerra

Nice to meet you, too.

I was discussing this topic with a friend of mine. They jokingly told me we should all pitch in and buy a billboard in LA that reads "Jeff Lynne, Please tour again. Signed, Your Fans."

Do you think he'd know we want to see him then? lol

I'd love to catch just one more concert of theirs but i doubt it'll happen this sumemr at least, i just got some madonna tickets not exactly the same thing but seeing a legend perform is always good times. Not many people have started in the 80's and are still going today.

Being an "oldie", I can remember seeing ELO five times - twice on the new world record, twice on the time and finally at wembley when they supported Rod Stewart in (I believe) 1985, plus a couple of Orkestra and part 2 shows

Reading this has reminded me of a lucky escape - I DID hear about the zoom tour in the US and was on the verge of buying a flight over from the uk to Philadelphia when I found out about the cancellation. The lucky part was that I believe the show was to be held on 9/15/2001 so I would probably have not got across the pond to see the concert even if it had taken place.

So am I missing the obvious here? Maybe rather than do a massive tour, how about 10 or so big shows or for that matter just one big show. Like doing Coachella. I guess what I'm saying is that a lot of people know ELO, they just don't know they do. There is so much music today (electro, house, glitch, emo and indie rock) that is inspired and based around a lot of what ELO laid down years ago that doing a big festival or two as a massive laser light quadrophonic meltdown could really boost the band and lead to a full on tour. After seeing Roger Waters light the dessert sky on fire last April at Coachella I can't only imagine what ELO would do.

Festivals are soooooo big right now they could the biggest and best from Glastonbury to Bonnaroo and introduce a whole new audience to their music and showmanship.

Just a thought.

I guess that the problem with the 2001 tour was that it had been planned on too big a scale.

I found the planned venue list for 2001 online - seems to be full of amphitheatres and arenas.

Maybe if Jeff did a tour involving 7-8 smaller venues across the USA, it would be a technical success. However it would not make massive amounts of money and thus the budget for such a tour would be limited – probably not actually worth doing.

The Wikipedia entry on Zoom seems to regard the album as a bit of a commercial failure, so the 21st century incarnation of ELO does not seem to appeal to the masses.

In terms of my favourite “era” of ELO songs, it would have to be when rock met the full orchestra, ie Face The Music / A New World Record / Out Of The Blue / Discovery. I was a fan of Beatles, rock and classical music before Mr Blue Sky came out, but that track fused all three styles into one song and amazed me.

Hi all. I'm brand new to the website but have been an ELO fan since A New World Record was released. Never got to see them live but would kill for the oportunity. Would love to see them tour with Roy and do stuff off of the 1st album. What era would you all like to see them play? For me it would have to be the stuff from No Answer (ELO 1) to Eldorado.

Hi Zerra

I never got to see them live before. I was a little young and the shows weren't easily accessible from where I lived for a young teen. Sad thing is that I lived in a major city. The major city is sandwiched between two others that got the major shows.

It should would be nice if Jeff Lynne woke up one morning and decided to do a farewell tour. I've heard he doesn't like touring, but it should would be great for us that weren't able to see ELO in the 70's and 80's.

hello chris!

When i think twice a comeback-Tour with the original lineup would be awesome.!!
They could start the tour in birmingham..Or in Germany my hometown
Maybe Stuttgart where they did their last Concert!!
Keep on Rocking!

Personally, I'd love to see any and all combinations as long as Jeff Lynne is fronting it. For that matter, if Jeff Lynne wants to tour by himself and sing the local phonebooks, I'll be there!

hello!
Yeah i also think so! I believe also afterlife. So maybe next life.
We really can be very Happy to a have all the cd´s with jeff´s heavenly voice.!
I also don´t need a tour.
Elo Forever!!

ELO on tour again? My dream come true, but I respect the guy not wanting to go thru that again. As posted previously we have the cds to enjoy ever more and that's where Jeff's magic shines brightest anyway. I would love the chance to see/meet him, it's just not likely. Hey I believe in the afterlife. And heaven would not be heaven without ELO...at least not for me lol.

a reunion is not going to happen, there is a lot of bad blood between certain members especially bevan and groucutt, two of the 'main'players.shame really but you never know!

I just got some Reading festival tickets they have an awesome line up each summer and it's a great concert all around

I think it was lawrev, who said they were surprised this website is up and running, I agree . I was shocked when a friend sent me the link.. there used to be a brilliant ELO website and forum, when Zoom was released, but there was also a lot of discussion and arguement, then it goes closed down! I'd love to know the reasons for that!?

baz

I agree that seeing ELO live would be great. It would have to include Lynn of course. I have little interest in ELO II. The frustrating thing, with regards to promotion, was I didn't find out about Zoom's release until my two week new release sheets came out. And I was in the music business. Maybe a site like this can help keep dedicated fans like us informed so then we could actually plan for attending concerts if the band desides to get back together for a tour.

Let's dream of it... and never say never. Maybe there comes a time they remember their great time, and we have a chance to see them live again. I'm still hoping...

It such a shame that the Zoom tour got canned.. when the DVD looked and sounded like such a top gig.. I'd love to know the exact reasons for it being cancelled.

It seems as though the Zoom album/tour will probably be Jeffs last effort as ELO.
I love to watch the DVD as it didnt make it to Dallas TX that year.

If he would reunite as many of the band members as possible and do at least one concert and make another DVD, we'd all be thrilled.

While they were great live (from the video I've seen) they were best in the studio and we have the entire catalog of Jeff & Co's brillance to enjoy ever after!

Can anybody tell me if ELO will be touring the UK in 2008?I saw them as The Orchestra at York in 2007.They were good, but just wondered if there was another part of the group doing any touring any time soon?David North Yorks.

WOOT! I Think Jeff Lynne Might Be With The Other Members For Concerts In Birmingham, Edinburgh And Newcastle! I SURE HOPE HE IS! It Says ELO, RETURN OF THE ORCHESTRA! Could It Be????

Well your have me hooked...........I recently saw the Honda commercial and now I can't get "Hold On To Your Dreams" out of my head. I never was an ELO listener in the past, but since I heard "Hold On", I've been researching them.

There are a lot of great EOL songs out there, and I think some concerts might bring their popularity back. Many groups from the past are touring around the USA now, and they pack them where ever they go.

EOL would love one of the best New England concert centers there is; Meadowbrook Farm Concert Pavilion in Gilford, NH. It is a top notch facility with a great following, and located in some of the most beautiful mountains and lakes in the country. We go to see Lynyrd Skynyrd every summer. They have been there with 38 Special, The Marshall Tucker Band and many others. Check out their website at http://meadowbrook.net/.

ELO last successfully toured the U.S. in 1981. That is 26, soon to be 27, years ago. Given that history, and given the fact that Jeff is not on good terms with some of his former bandmates, I think it is fair to say that ELO will never tour again. Even that comment he made this past summer when he signed an autograph outside an LA restaurant seemed to confirm that fact.

Jeff not too long ago lamented the fact that the Traveling Wilburys never toured when Harrison was alive. I have never heard him lament the same thing about ELO.

I'm surprised that this Forum is up and running over 6 years after the collapse of the Zoom tour and the lack of any new ELO albums in that time frame. I'd buy an ELO concert ticket in a heartbeat, but I just don't see it happening.

Here Here!! The tour for zoom, let aloe the CD took so many fans by surprise, that they weren't ready for the tour. If Sony (US) would have promoted it better, I think they woul have sold more tickets, as by the time I found out about, it was already cancelled.......PLEASE release a new CD, and TOUR! And whoever is the lable, PLEASE promote it, the way ELO deserves!!!!

bev bevans , move are doing gigs all over uk at mo , shame they dont do any elo , but great set up anyhow

How about coming back home Jeff???

I have to see you live before I die!!!!

Please!!!!!!!!!! ELO Should come to Germany!!!!!!!!!!!
Would be so great.Laughing out loud

P.S. ELO should come to Canada. Long Live ELO!!!

A reunion tuor would be awesome. Michael de Albuquerque was not the main bass player. Bare in mined that Bev Beven is now in Bev Beven's Move. Kelly Grucut is in the Orchestra along with Mik Kaminski, and a guy that played synthesized strings for ELO and conducted the orchestras. What about bringing back Roy Wood?

I totally agree with that Smiling
