Albums remastered in 5.1???? PLEASE?

I for one think that ELO's catalog is soo perfect for the surround format!!! They are just layered with strings, guitars, drums, and vocals, you need to open it up accrossed a bigger area, to hear all the majesty that is ELO. The advanced resolution of SACD or DVD-A. even the new formats like HD-DVD, or Blue Ray would be perfect to remaster in.....I'd even settle for DTS or DDS. Zoom in concerts was great in DTS 5.1, but it was live. Great albums like Pink Flyd's DSOTM and Chicago II sound like a whole veil was lifted from the music when remastered in 5.1. They sound like they were recorded just yesterday. Anyone agree?

That means I would have to buy all the albums again.
Where is my wallet? Ha Ha Ha!

Tubular Bells was originally released in stereo in 1973. It was subsequently released in a quad mix in 1975. The 2001 SACD edition contains both the stereo mix and the quad mix, the quad using 4 full channels of the 5.1 (the quad mix had no centre channel or sub-bass channel)

ELO's debut album was released in 1971, then mixed into quadraphic ...

But we can hope - I think it would be an excellent idea as a Sony limited edition if Sony and EMI/Harvest could come to some form of arrangement.

I couldn't agree more.

ELO were way ahead of their time. And their lush, multi-layered three-dimensional sound lends itself perfectly to the surround format. I mean what is so special about ELO are all those sounds in the background, things whizzing past in the far distance, but also close-up things ...

Ole ELO!
